OK, it's time.
It's time to get back into organizing mode and cleaning mode and revamping mode. Did anyone watch Oprah on Monday? (I love Tivo...I watched it last night.) it was the episode with Bob Greene, her trainer and health guru. He has a new book out. I plan to get it the next time I'm at Sam's it talks about cutting things out of your diet to 'prepare' for healthy living. It's not hyped as a 'diet' but more of a total living thing. (at least that was my impression)
Now, if you check this blog as often as I keep up with it you've at one time or another come across my admition of a tootsie roll, peanut M&M breakfast. Well I had to stop that over the holiday...mostly because it was finally making me sick. I think I now have an intolerance to chocolate because I've found that certain chocolate's are making my stomach cramp to the point of imobility about an hour after consumption.
My husband recently had some reps come into his office from Doctors for Nutrition and they left samples. I love samples. So I've now consumed a 7 day trial of the Greens First meal replacement. (OK just realized their website isn't exactly complete, they also have a product called Dream Protein that you mix with the greens first) I would be lying if I said this was the best tasting stuff you've ever drank...although Kara loves the greens first by itself. I've found if I use COLD water to mix the drink I'm able to down the whole thing at once (which at this point tastes just fine) causing me to only have to deal with the jolt of after taste once. It's the 'after taste' that gets ya.
BUT...the upside to this is that I really have felt better. It's not the magic bullet by any means but my urge to snack is less, and I don't feel so hungry. Since no one gets enough vegtables this is a HUGE supply. It can only be ordered through Doctors so if anyone really is interested, e-mail me and I'll get you hooked up.
I've also been using the eliptical and lifting weights in my basement. (The gym I joined is supposed to open at the end of the month...then I have to get up at 5:30 to go ugh!) I'm literally forcing myself to go downstairs. I did again today which was a must because on Monday I did walking lunges, squats, and dead lifts....I haven't walked normal since.
OK so back to the Bob Greene thing. I bought products at the store today that were part of his "best life" approved foods. I even bought chocolate SOY milk. I'm not looking forward to trying it but.....trying to remember it's about what's good for you.
So another thing that's good for me is getting rid of the clutter. Yes, I've talked about that before around here. My big "organizing" work up seems to happen about this time every year. But last year, I did SO much better keeping on top of the clutter and this year it's a must too. If it weren't so cold around here I'd be working on that garage of mine...mostly because it needs to be fixed before I can move to another step. I can't paint because it's like 5 degrees outside. I have to paint the garage before we put the overhead shelves up. I can't move some of the storage in the basement until the shelves are up...see the dilema?
But I'll post more soon...pictures of my mess. Pictures of my projects. Total heathy living here...in small steps.
